Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, James W. Reid has practiced in the area of Trusts and Estates for over 40 years. Jim obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia (B.A., Economics) and his law degree from the University of Georgia. He is
admitted to practice in New York and before the U.S. Tax Court.
Jim has many long-standing relationships with private clients and their families living in the United States and abroad. He is a hands-on advisor who makes the concerns of his clients his top priority. He delivers professionalism with seasoned expertise, integrity, balance, thoughtfulness and value. Jim’s practice focuses on estate and tax planning and
the representation of individual and corporate Executors and Trustees in all aspects of the administration of estates and trusts, including estate, gift and fiduciary income tax issues, disclaimer options, fiduciary accounting matters, Unitrust and power-to-adjust elections, cross-border implications, tax treaty issues, decanting to revise existing trusts, change of situs and fiduciary elections and considerations.
Jim is a member of the New York State and City Bar Associations, the Estate Planning Council of New York and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He has written
and lectured on a variety of estate and tax issues and has spoken on estate planning
panels. Jim Reid lives in Riverside, Connecticut.
